The crown jewel of this series is Gov’t Mule and John Scofield’s long-awaited live album SCO-MULE, due out on January 27th on Evil Teen Records. The release will be followed by a U.S. tour featuring special guest John Scofield kicking off February 18th in Seattle. The 2.5-hour all-instrumental SCO-MULE LP is a jazz-rock hybrid and is the most anticipated Mule archival release as fans have been clamoring for the return of the project for more than a decade. In late September of 1999, Scofield teamed with Gov’t Mule, then featuring original bass player the late Allen Woody, along with keyboardist Dr. Dan Matrazzo, in Georgia for two live shows of mind-bending musical prowess.  Both shows were recorded for eventual release and included the Mule’s first-ever all-instrumental sets. When their beloved bassist Allen Woody passed away shortly thereafter, the release was temporarily shelved as the band coped with and moved on from the devastating loss. The idea of releasing SCO-MULE came up over the years, but the timing was never as right as it is now – helping to mark Gov’t Mule’s 20th Anniversary. The audio from this highly revered collaboration can now be heard for the first time in album form, newly mixed and mastered. The album is available as a 2-CD set as well as a double vinyl. Dark Side of the Mule is out now and features 90 minutes of Pink Floyd covers recorded during a Halloween 2008 show.
