New York, NY – January 14th, 2014 - We Are Scientists are thrilled to announce the release of their fourth LP, entitled TV en Français, on March 4th, 2014, on Dine Alone Records. The duo worked for the first time with producer Chris Coady (Beach House, Smith Westerns, Yuck) and frequent drummer Andy Burrows (previously of Razorlight) to create the album at Magic Shop in NYC. The collection will feature the tracks “Dumb Luck” and “Return the Favor” from their EP Business Casual, which was released on October 15th, 2013. This week, Vice’s Noisey.com unveiled the video for “Dumb Luck” — PRESS HERE <http://noisey.vice.com/blog/heres-we-are-scientists-video-for-dumb-luck> to watch! The ultra-gory — yet somehow still hugely fun — video culminates years of horror film connoisseurship for Murray and Cain. According to Cain, “We’ve needed for so long to splatter ourselves in fake blood, but could never find a good reason. Finally!"
TV en Français showcases the full musical prowess of We Are Scientists. The band keeps the energy of the album high, from the guitar-heavy opener, “What You Do Best,” to the booming closing chorus of “Take An Arrow.” Standout track “Dumb Luck” demonstrates the band’s innate ability to write an explosive, visceral guitar riff, while “Don’t Blow It” features a buoyant melody coupled with their signature lyrical panache. Murray enthuses, “Working with Chris Coady as producer had a huge effect — he has such a distinct and well-developed sense of what’s cool and what sounds good, but he’s also emphatic about keeping the rawness of the performances in there.”
To support the release of their album, We Are Scientists will tour extensively throughout the UK/Europe and then make their way across the pond for the North American leg, including stops in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Washington DC and Austin, among other cities. We Are Scientists broke out with their 2005 debut With Love & Squalor, which sold over 100,000 copies in the UK, and led to a sold-out UK tour, including two nights at Brixton Academy. They have since released two full-length albums, Brain Thrust Mastery (Virgin Records, 2008) and Barbara (Masterswan Recordings, 2010). All three albums charted in the UK, with singles “After Hours,” “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt,”  “The Great Escape,” “It’s a Hit” and “Chick Lit” all charting in the US/UK. They have appeared on US late night talk shows The Late Show with David Letterman, Conan and Carson Daly, and performed at Coachella, Sasquatch, and All Points West festivals. In the UK, they’ve played the Reading and Leeds main stage and Glastonbury Festivals, among other world-wide touring.
