NEW YORK, NY, February 14-COHEED AND CAMBRIA's second volume of their double-album, The Afterman: Descension, debuts at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week, selling 40k+ units!  This debut success follows in the path of the first volume of the double album, The Afterman: Ascension, which debuted at #5 with its October 9, 2012 release and re-enters the Billboard 200 this week as well! The dim-lit, twisting video for the song is the latest project from acclaimed director Robert Schober (Green Day, The Killers, Mastodon), and tells the story of what frontman Claudio Sanchez calls, "the duality of human nature." COHEED AND CAMBRIA are thrilled with the success of both volumes of The Afterman double album which was released on the band's own label, Everything Evil, in conjunction with Hundred Handed Inc.
Also in the works is a live-action film of the successful comic series penned by Sanchez, The Amory Wars, which will be produced by Mark Wahlberg and Leverage Productions (more info below).
COHEED AND CAMBRIA also kicked off a national headlining tour last week with a string of SOLD OUT shows in Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis. The tour sees the band making additional stops at The Wiltern in Los Angeles as well as a landmark show to close out the tour at New York City's Radio City Music Hall on March 16th. About The Afterman:  The first volume from the double-album (Ascension) charts the sci-fi journey of Sirius Amory into the stars of the alternate universe known well by Coheed fans as "Heaven's Fence." Upon entering "the Keywork," the blue gaseous energy force that powers these worlds, Amory stumbles upon the Afterlife. In his first confrontation with a soul, "Domino the Destitute" possesses Sirius, who is forced to relive the frenetic events that had occurred in Domino's waking life. The second volume, 'Descension' follows Sirius' return to his home planet where he faces not only the moral dilemma of sharing what he has discovered, but also a tragic accident that will turn his life upside down.
