Brooklyn based indie-pop duo The Last Royals (Ooh La La Records<http://oohlalarecordings.com/home/>) have premiered their video for ballad track "I Hate California" today in conjunction with Tumblr. The pair are thrilled to release new content through this platform since they are avid Tumblr users - the band's website is actually a Tumblr page. Website link to check out below.

Beautifully shot in Southern California by director and cinematographer Matt Sanders, this black and white short is comprised 100% of reflected images, a deliberate creative call by the director to focus on the song's back story. Written about a time when The Last Royals singer Eric James, then newly married and having to travel alone to Los Angeles for 6 weeks, "I Hate California" captures the frequent dichotomy of hopes versus reality.

"You have to be careful what you wish for', says Eric of the song.  'Big American dreams, heading West to fulfill your destiny - like you're gonna write the perfect radio song with a big hit-maker. Then you look around and realize it's hell and you just wanna go home."

"I Hate California" is from The Last Royals' debut LP, Twistification, that has been highly-praised by PasteMagazine.com, Entertainment Weekly, Blurt, Spotify, RCRD LBL, Interview Magazine, Fuse News (network piece) and more.

In other news, the duo has announced they will be performing at GAP's flagship store in NYC on Thursday, June 13th for the clothing company's kick-off party in support of Firefly Music Festival 2013.  GAP is a major sponsor for Firefly that will be happening in Dover, DE the weekend of June 21st-23rd. The guys will also be giving another special NYC performance at Sleep No More (Manderley Bar / McKittrick Hotel) on June 26th. Then the Last Royals will head to the Mid-West to make their debut at this year's Summerfest on July 2nd in Milwaukee, WI.
