Eleanor Friedberger * Tuesday, December 13th @ Music Hall of Williamsburg

[eleanor-general 1b-rebecca bengal-small]
The Fiery Furnaces' dazzling frontwoman Eleanor Friedberger will be playing the Brooklyn Vegan Holiday Party this Tuesday, December 13th @ the Music Hall of Williamsburg, with $1 from every ticket going to the Toys For Tots foundation. Eleanor has been touring nonstop in support of her stunning solo debut, Last Summer, which was released this past July. Her charming, ever-so-catchy tune “My Mistakes” was recently named one of 2011’s Singles of the Year by Rolling Stone. Not only is Eleanor an impressive songwriter, she is also a dynamic performer, maintaining her signature vocal phrasing and killer rock n' roll moves while playing the guitar and exuding an utter charm. You do not want to miss out on this killer performance!

 Praise for Last Summer:

“The Fiery Furnaces’ singer turns in a sketch of vivid regret, featuring a sprightly garage-pop groove and one of the year’s sweetest melodies. (about “My Mistakes”)” – Rolling Stone

“The solo debut from the Fiery Furnaces’ singer is a beguiling and byzantine New York-centric travelogue…this is as straightforwardly evocative as abstract pop gets, with the hazy beauty and fractured narratives of a vintage Polaroid slide.(8/10) ” – Spin

“Simple but lovely piano melodies and richly mellow bass shepherd most of the tracks here … The warmly recorded, light-treading effort feels like a throwback to idiosyncratic but solidly crafted albums made in the 1970s by piano-driven popsmiths like Harry Nilsson, Todd Rundgren, and Joni Mitchell. (7.9)” - Pitchfork

“Last Summer is an album to let wash over you in repeated sittings, rather than pick apart track by track. It's best to drop the top, turn up the volume, soak in the moment and try to imagine what these songs will sound like next summer, and the one after.” – NPR

“Friedberger steps further into her own spotlight with an astounding solo debut. Her pinpoint enunciation is immediately recognizable, yet dutifully enhanced with layered sonic arrangements.” – Black Book

The duo sings together at all times to create a seamless, singular “third voice” and create stunning, indie pop bliss on the Come Home EP. Released through all digital service providers and indie retail this past month, Come Home is the perfect introduction to a band whose name you’ll be hearing throughout 2012. These will be Serenades first Stateside shows, so you do not want to miss out. The band has already played throughout Sweden in a number of ways – sometimes as a duo, sometimes as an eleven-piece – so these shows are already guaranteed to be the stuff of legends.

“Serenades have won my ear's heart with their Animal Collective like tendencies made even richer by their more apparent dedication to song structure than the Merriweather Post Pavillion boys.” – MusicThatIsntBad.com<http://MusicThatIsntBad.com/>

“ ‘Oceans’ is lovely as a day at the beach.” – Buzzbands.LA

“There’s just something about Swedish pop that stands out from the rest. Serenades capture the essence of this feeling and hit it out of the park” –WeAllWantSomeone.org<http://WeAllWantSomeone.org/>

Sydney Wayser @ Rockwood Music Hall, December 15, 9pm

[SydSmall]In the midst of the snowy tundra of a New York City winter, wrapped in ravaging winds and ice caked sidewalks, Sydney Wayser set out to make a record. The L.A. bred but Brooklyn based songstress found her escape from the frigid cold in the woven gorgeous dream land she carved out. A space where it was always sunny and 75 degrees, where clouds crown the majesty of the mountains and the beaches are the stuff of postcards; the sand grain sifted to perfect warmth and the water is always calm. The new frontier Sydney created would eventually become the concept behind "Bell Choir Coast" and this thursday night it's your turn to escape the bitter cold and envelop yourself in this gorgeous landscape. Don't miss your chance to get an early listen to the record KCRW and Paste are already singing praises for!

WHEELER BROTHERS * Friday, December 16th @ the Living Room – 10:00 PM

[HomePressPhoto_Pat Cassidy LR]Indie-Americana five-piece, Wheeler Brothers, are making their way through NYC on Friday, December 16th at the Living Room! They have quickly emerged as one of Austin’s most exciting up-and-coming bands whose style is described as “ball-of-fire Americana” by the Austin Chronicle. Wheeler Brothers are touring in support of their debut release, Portraits (Bismeaux Records), which dropped this summer and features sing along, guitar driven jams with clear, crisp vocals and plenty of down-home Southern twang. They will be making their way across the country through the New Year hitting Nashville, Dallas, Austin, Chicago and LA along the way. (jamie at pressherepublicity.com<mailto:jamie at pressherepublicity.com>)

Praise for the Wheeler Brothers:
“…mixing country rock guitars with warm, rootsy vocals. Portraits stakes out ground somewhere in the vast space between Band of Horses and the Avett Brothers.” – Austin American Statesman

“Through 11 fiery roots-influenced cuts, the Brothers bare their songwriting chops with an addictive sense of bravado and cerebral storytelling... Seemingly a bottomless pit of musical vision, Portraits is a debut that shows this band’s melodic wellspring already bubbling over.” – Elmore Magazine

“…ball-of-fire Americana and fueled by expansive musical backgrounds…” – Austin Chronicle
