MEN * TONIGHT! @ Ooga Booga party, 9 pm
MEN, featuring Le Tigre's JD Samson, will be playing at the Ooga Booga
party TONIGHT in support of their debut album, Talk About Body, out now
on IAMSOUND Records. MEN began in 2007 and speak to issues such as
wartime economics, sexual compromise, and the demand for liberties. The
New York Times called the band's first EP, Limited Edition Demo, "full
of dreamy post-disco". They were praised for their high energy
performances which saw them open for The Gossip and Peaches in America,
in addition to doing their own headlining runs in the U.S. and overseas.
MEN treats each show as an art project, combining politics, dance
parties, and activism to produce brilliantly wacky performances.
This show is going to be the stuff legends are made of! Let us know if
you want to see them this evening!
"Their lyrics dance merrily over the music, which itself bops along in
fine electro-dance fashion." - Daily News
"...pretty remarkable as a political and musical polemic." - New York
Times

MONA * Wednesday, February 9 @ The Echo
Nashville 4-piece Mona have already taken the UK by storm and are on the
verge of doing the same here with their forthcoming debut release this
summer.
In only a few months since releasing their single "Listen To Your Love"
on their own label 'Zion Noiz Recordings via Rough Trade shops and
independent stores across the UK this year, critics and fans haven't
stopped raving. Since then, the gang has signed with Mercury Records
for the US, and has announced select winter tour dates including a stop
in LA on February 9 at The Echo and in San Francisco on February 10 at
Popscene. Mona makes arm-pumping, vein-pulsing, knee-shaking,
sing-your-lungs-out music - each note is a reminder that true rock &
roll is not going anywhere.

Praise for Mona:
"...it appears that in Mona we may have found a big-sounding, big
hearted rock'n'roll band to believe in again." - NME
"Motor-mouthed 50's throwbacks..." - Q Magazine
"In a time when few bands have very little to say, it's refreshing to
finally hear a fearless star in waiting telling us how it is and more
importantly actually having the epic tunes to back it up" - Clash
