Worldwide Cartier Launch of Short Film “Painted Love” TODAY
Official Launch Party in Tokyo on November 25th
New York, NY – November 16th, 2011— Today, Cartier is releasing its “Painted Love” campaign on all of its digital platforms. Painted Love is the exclusive short film collaboration with New York based directors Waverly (LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Deathcab for Cutie, TV on the Radio) and French band Air (EMI Music France). The short film and « Making-Of » will be available at Cartier’s website<http://www.love.cartier.com/>, their Facebook<http://www.facebook.com/Cartier> and YouTube<http://www.youtube.com/Cartier> as well as on Vevo<http://www.vevo.com/watch/air/painted-love/USZXT1132858>. Painted Love revisits the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea- the impossible encounter between an artist and his muse. The film takes place in a downtown Manhattan loft and depicts the story of a young painter and his quest for his love and his obsession to attain her. “Painted Love” is the first of a three-part series of exclusive collaborations between musicians and directors all answering the question “How Far Would You Go For Love?”The complete series will debut in 2012.
This is Cartier’s biggest online engagement, marking the first time the iconic luxury brand has used social media to reach consumers. After the films initial Facebook debut on November 9th, Ad Week called the campaign “refreshing” while MTV dubbed it “a dark yet breathy ode to obsessive passion.”
To celebrate the release of this collaboration, Cartier will host an official worldwide VIP launch party in Tokyo on Thursday, November 25th. The event, co-hosted with nightlife impresarios Andre Saraiva and Lionel Bensemoun from Le Baron, will take place at Sound Museum Vision, Tokyo’s new superclub boasting a capacity of 1,500. The line-up will include DJ sets by AIR and Gildas (co-founder of Kitsune) as well as a live performance by Sebastien Tellier.
In 2007, Cartier teamed up with Olivier Dahan who directed 12 short LOVE films. In 2008, the internationally renowned jeweler launched an exclusive concept album which included original songs from 12 artists such as Marion Cotillard, Lou Reed, Phoenix and Ryuchi Sakamoto amongst others, which received cult status.
