Praise for Black Hours:

“Leithauser's voice has traces of Sam Cooke<http://www.rollingstone.com/music/artists/sam-cooke> and Steve Perry of Journey<http://www.rollingstone.com/music/artists/journey> as he stretches out on songs like the lachrymose "Self Pity" or the happy skiff le stomp "Alexandra."….the deep palette and intimate musicianship sustain a mood of late-night melodrama stretching toward 5 a.m. epiphany.” – Rolling Stone

“Black Hours is a tribute to a diverse range of musical progenitors. But more deeply, it’s a testament to Leithauser’s inexhaustible stylistic ambition, and his ability to conquer expectations by throwing one curveball after another.” – Pitchfork

“Black Hours creates a fitting context for a beloved lead singer striking out on his own. It helps cement the musical legacy of Leithauser and the band he rode in on, and hypothesizes a long, pleasant career ahead.” – Wondering Sound
