Los Angeles, CA (April 18, 2012)...Chester French release their first single "Black Girls" from their forthcoming new album. The song features a stark and stunning new video premiering today on Huffington Post here<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/18/chester-french-black-girls-video_n_1433954.html> and will be the featured video on the re-launch of the brand new updated KarmaloopTV.com<http://karmalooptv.com/> website today, as well.  The video is the first for acclaimed Italian photographer Francesco Carrozzini<http://www.francescocarrozzini.com/>.
Contributing photographs and covers to Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, W, New York, The New Yorker and L'Uomo Vogue, Carrozzini is a highly sought after artist who The New York Times commissioned to produce its lauded "screen tests<http://video.nytimes.com/video/2007/12/03/style/tmagazine/1194817102546/screen-test-natalie-portman.html>." For Chester French's video, Carrozzini realizes in striking elegance an unapologetic portrayal of contemporary love.
"The video's purpose is to celebrate the female form, the beauty of black women, interracial and same sex love," Carrozzini says. "We approached it with simplicity, trying to make the images speak for themselves in the arch of the very simple story told." This compliments Chester French's bold and unabashed lyrics, among them: "This ain't no fetish / Ain't objectifying no one / I reject your deconstruction of my taste."
The two women engaging in the video are Rie Rasmussen (writer/director/producer of Human Zoo, a 2009 Berlin Film Festival select, and the face of Gucci under director Tom Ford) and Jodie Smith (Levi's Campaign). "Black Girls" is produced by Kori Shadrick.
The song leads up Chester French's upcoming June release (K-LP / Karmaloop Records), and is the band's first single since their 2009 album Love The Future, which was described by Rolling Stone as "a collection of pop songs with Brian Wilson melodies, early-Beck humor and synth beats that celebrates romance over digital-crisp surf pop." The mag declared Chester French an artist to watch, as did SPIN and countless others.
Comprising singer and songwriter D.A. Wallach and multi-instrumentalist and composer Max Drummey, Chester French brings together classic songwriting and pop hooks with adventurous, experimental arrangements. The group has drawn comparisons to everyone from Weezer to The Gorillaz, and has worked with a diverse array of collaborators including Janelle Monae, Pharrell, Rick Ross, and Travis Barker.
In 2010, D.A. and Max moved to D.A.'s hometown in Wisconsin and began working on their forthcoming album, which approaches their typically melodic pop songwriting from a more visceral, electronic and emotionally unvarnished perspective. Entirely self-written and self-produced, the album is a sonically dense and lyrically direct window into the minds of two unconventional young artists coming to terms with materialism, race, love, and other existentially vexing matters. "Black Girls" exemplifies this new direction, and invites listeners and viewers to reconsider the categories by which we think about each other in life, love, and art.
