Globally acclaimed and beloved African band Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars have debuted their new album Radio Salone on Popmatters.com today, April 17th. Beginning May 18th in San Diego, the band will embark on an extensive three-month North American tour bringing their joyous live shows Stateside for headlining dates and a series of festival appearances. The full list of tour dates is below, including a newly announced Chicago show on June 2nd at Mayne Stage.


Radio Salone was produced by roots reggae, soul and Afrobeat guru Victor Axelrod, aka Ticklah, (Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, Amy Winehouse, Easy Star All Stars, Antibalas) and is the follow-up to the band's 2010 album Rise & Shine, which was the #1 of the year on the World Music Charts Europe.  Having persevered through the horrors of the Sierra Leone civil war, band leader Reuben Koroma and the group continue to evolve musically in exciting ways. Their third album Radio Salone is their most virtuosic collection of songs to date, featuring a vintage African vibe and dub elements that connect traditional West African sounds with roots reggae in a way that the band has never before explored.
