Hope you're wonderfully well. I'm sending you this link to a stream of the brand new GRUFF RHYS album HOTEL SHAMPOO - to be released on Wichita Records on NEXT WEEK - May 3rd! Gruff Rhys will be taking to the road on a coast to coast US tour in May and June – see dates below.

 

Gruff, a veritable national treasure in his native UK, is the singer, songwriter is the singer, songwriter and leader of Welsh band SUPER FURRY ANIMALS as well as one half of celebrated electro duo Neon Neon and was last seen performing with Gorillaz and De La Soul on "Superfast Jellyfish" from their PLASTIC BEACH album.  

 

HOTEL SHAMPOO was inspired by the collection of miniature shampoo bottles amassed over 15 years of touring. To launch the album Gruff built a hotel sculpture made out of his tiny hotel shampoo collection in an art gallery in Cardiff, Wales and spent the night inside.

Hotel Shampoo has already been met with a whirlwind of rave reviews - The Sunday Independent (UK) said “No man in Britain has a lovelier voice than Rhys, and if you're looking for meanderingly melodic psych-pop, you wouldn't turn to anyone else first.” Spin praises it as “…whimsically rewarding…. Super Furry Animals' frontman makes the gimmicky sublime.”  Pitchfork found that Hotel Shampoo “manages to strike the right balance between Rhys' desire to indulge odd whims, lyrical humor, outright pop, and heartfelt sentiment. More importantly, he always makes it sound effortless.”
