Hello!

Press Here has this fine release hitting stores today.....

* Elliott BROOD - Mountain Meadows (Six Shooter Records/ADA)

Toronto's Gothic country trio Elliott BROOD have been turning heads in =
their native Canada with their distinctive sound, noir-ish lyrics and =
non-traditional approach to "traditional" music and are putting out =
their first American release, the Juno and Polaris Prize-nominated =
Mountain Meadows, today. The album's title refers to the "Mountain =
Meadows Massacre," an 1857 event that left 120 men, women and children =
dead at the hands of militant Mormons and Native American tribesmen. The =
songs unfold like a musical novella, with writers Mark Sasso and Casey =
Laforet writing songs inspired by the very young children who were =
allowed to live and how their lives might have turned out. Q Magazine =
(in a 4-star review) calls the album "a breathtaking amalgam of The =
Band's sense of history and My Morning Jacket's metallic country."

=20

While their songs are steeped in history, BROOD members Sasso, Laforet =
and Steve Pitkin are far from a traditional roots band, using amplified =
ukulele, banjo, a worn acoustic guitar and a drum kit with artful =
touches of bass pedals and percussion to create a huge sound.=20

=20

"Loosely based around a 19th century massacre in Utah, their album =
Mountain Meadows is delivered with exuberance and skill, with Mark Sasso =
growling like Drive By Truckers' Patterson Hood." - UNCUT * * * *

=20

"Elliott Brood do for pre-war folk music what bands like The White =
Stripes and Black Keys do for blues." - Globe and Mail * * * *

=20

Drop a line if you want to hear this album! In the meantime, Elliott =
BROOD will be touring live. Let us know if you'd like to see any of the =
shows. The dates are below.....
