Richie Sambora Performs “Call To The Post” Live on Guitar Before The Breeders Cup this Saturday

Richie Sambora Performs “Call To The Post” on Guitar for the

First Time Ever During Breeders’ Cup Weekend Festivities

LOS ANGELES, (October 31, 2013) – This Saturday's telecast of the Breeders Cup will, for the first time ever, feature the "Call to the Post" performed not by the traditional bugle, but by American rock icon Richie Sambora on electric guitar.

Additionally, Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton will perform the National Anthem, while acclaimed actress and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth will perform the Breeders’ Cup adopted anthem, “The Best is Yet to Come.”

Viewers will be able to watch all of these performances on NBC and NBC Sports Network as part of the Breeders’ Cup race coverage.  The National Anthem and Call to The Post will air on NBC Sports Network at 6:35pm ET and 7:20pm ET respectively.  Kristin Chenoweth’s performance of “The Best is Yet to Come” will air as part of the Breeders’ Cup Classic coverage on NBC at 8:00pm ET.

Richie Sambora will also participate in the inaugural Songs in the Saddle: The Infield Music Fest, along with Grammy Award winning Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea.  This afternoon concert will feature a talented line-up of previously announced notable Grammy, American Music Award and Academy of Country Music Award winning R&B, bluegrass, indie rock and Latin musicians which include Kristin Chenoweth, Toni Braxton, Macy Gray, Joan Osborne, Jakob Dylan, Giselle Fernandez, Nikki Lane, Jenny & The Mexicats, American Authors, Dame and Jenny O.  Songs in the Saddle is a collaboration between the Breeders’ Cup and Hip Card Productions taking place Saturday, November 2 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

The Breeders’ Cup administers the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s year-end Championships.  The Breeders’ Cup also administers the Breeders’ Cup Challenge qualifying series, which provides automatic starting positions into the Championships races.
