June 17th, 2013-- Nashville band Moon Taxi are thrilled to announce the release of their third full length album, Mountains Beaches Cities, which will be available via BMG on September 10th, 2013! In support of the album announcement, they have premiered the project's lead track "Running Wild" today onPasteMagazine.com. The record was self-produced by Moon Taxi's own guitarist Spencer Thomson with the help of keyboardist Wes Bailey and was mixed by Vance Powell (Jack White,The Dead Weather) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Talking Heads, Paul Simon, Fleet Foxes).

The album announcement comes on the heels of the band's buzzed about festival performances at this year's Hangout and Wakarusa. Moon Taxi wowed the festival crowds, led by lead singer and guitarist Trevor Terndrup who is known for his uninhibited stage presence. After live-streaming their Hangout performance, MTV claimed Moon Taxi to be the network's "new favorite band."

If you've never heard of Moon Taxi, you will and here's what you've missed - the five-piece, which was formed in 2006, toured extensively last year in support of their tastemaker-lauded album Cabaret (2012). Cabaret and their raucous live show helped land them debut performances at major music festivals Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, plus opening slots for such artists as Matisyahu, Dr. John, and Dirty Heads - all as an unsigned act. Their extremely loyal fan base have been known to follow them on tour and travel hundreds of miles just to see them play. Their sound, which Relix says "successfully bridges the gap between jam and indie," has been highly praised by NPR, Entertainment Weekly, Paste Magazine and more, and their songs have recently been featured on ABC's Nashville, an HBO fight promo, and the independent film Zero to 100, which is based on the true story of leading female surfer Lakey Peterson.

On Mountains Beaches Cities, Moon Taxi honed in on extending their sonic landscape. "We made a conscious effort with our last record to produce long-lasting, good, catchy songs that will outlast us. With Mountains Beaches Cities we created a record to reach an even broader range of people," says Trevor.

"I think people may have perceived us as solely a live band for a long time," says Wes. "So I'm glad to release another album. We love playing shows, but we also care a lot about the art of creating an album."

Apparent throughout Mountains Beaches Cities is the project's traveling narrative, which stems from them touring relentlessly and experiencing growing together and as individuals while on the road. The album's own title and certain track titles such as "Running Wild" and "Young Journey" also embody the album's story and imagery. The band utilizes both acoustic and electronic elements on the album, but this time around they amp up the speed and turn up the volume - creating an overall bigger sound.

In other news, Moon Taxi will perform live on MTV/Vh1/CMT's O Music Awards at 11:30am to 11:50am CT tomorrow, June 20th as a part of the awards' "Live Music Day Festival" - the world's largest online and mobile-only music festival that includes more than 50 bands. The performance will be lived streamed at http://www.omusicawards.com, so tune in! The previous award shows have featured a myriad of performers that span multiple genres, including Mumford & Sons, The Flaming Lips and Robyn, and have been springboards to launch artists including Hunter Hayes, Foster the People, Mac Miller and Alabama Shakes.

Moon Taxi will be on tour this Summer leading up to Mountains Beaches Cities' Fall release, which includes a performance at Forecastle Festival in Louisville, KY on July 12th.
