PJ Morton will release his anticipated debut album, New Orleans, on May 14, 2013 via Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment.  The LP, whose title is a nod to PJ's hometown and musical roots, boasts special guest features by Stevie Wonder and Busta Rhymes. New Orleans offers up PJ's unique brand of smooth, soulful pop, bringing his evocative hooks, funky R&B grooves, velvety vocals and stellar musicianship to the forefront. With PJ at the keyboard and a full backing band complete with horns and strings that give the album a lush finesse, it's easy to fall for these songs at first listen.



New Orleans follows PJ's acclaimed Following My First Mind EP, which was released in early 2012 and featured guest spots from Adam Levine, Lil Wayne and Jazmine Sullivan. It was praised by the likes of Vibe, Complex, Interview, Essence, YRB and MTV Buzzworthy and even garnered PJ a spot sitting in with The Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.



While New Orleans is PJ's first full-length effort, he is quite the seasoned veteran.  A musical triple threat, PJ is not only the newest addition to the storied Young Money roster. He also does double duty as the keyboardist/backing vocalist in Maroon 5 and is a GRAMMY, Dove and Stellar Award- winning producer and songwriter (India Arie, Jermaine Dupri, LL Cool J, Jagged Edge, Monica and Musiq Soulchild).  It is by having a foothold in each of these realms that PJ has found his sweet spot. With limitless potential and a rare ability to cross musical genres and roles so effortlessly, the future is bright for PJ. His past, however, has been just as rife with diverse inspirations.



Born into the richly melodic soil of New Orleans, PJ recalls a musically inspired upbringing where his talents were eagerly nurtured. Though encompassed in a gospel environment, he was also strongly influenced by pop icons the Beatles and James Taylor and equally moved by soulful legends Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway.  These three persuasions shaped PJ's growth as a musician and propelled him to find his own artistry.



After releasing several mixtapes and albums on the indie circuit in the early part of his career and collecting accolades as a producer and songwriter, PJ's big break came when Maroon 5 asked him to audition for a keyboardist/vocalist spot in the band, which ultimately landed him the gig. Shortly thereafter, Young Money Entertainment's President, Mack Maine, signed PJ to his production company, Soothe Your Soul Entertainment and Young Money Entertainment. Maine immediately recognized PJ's talent, along with Cash Money Record's Co-CEOs Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Birdman" Williams, and Young Money Entertainment's captain Lil Wayne.



PJ recently performed incredibly well-received showcases in London, Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin and will open for Maroon 5 overseas later this summer during the band's worldwide tour.
