NEW YORK, NY, September 19, 2012-Critically acclaimed hip-hop MC/singer/songwriter and activist, K'NAAN, has announced his highly anticipated third album, Country, God or The Girl will debut October 16, 2012 through A&M/Octone.  The album follows the release of 2009's acclaimed sophomore effort Troubadour, and features a diverse collaboration with some of music's biggest talents-Bono, Nas, Keith Richards and Will.i.Am,   Also included on the LP collection is the Top 40 smash and MTV VMA-nominated single for 'Best Video with a Message,' "Is Anybody Out There," featuring Nelly Furtado, and his current up-tempo single "Hurt Me Tomorrow," which continues to climb the Top40 chart.  K'NAAN has also announced a national tour in support of the new album, which will kick off on February 13, 2013 in Columbus, OH (see dates below). Prior to these tour dates, K'NAAN will take part in The Global Poverty Project's Global Festival, a free-ticketed concert on September 29, 2012 in New York's Central Park, alongside music heavyweights such as, The Black Keys, Neil Young and Foo Fighters.

K'NAAN continues his tradition of evocative, thought-provoking lyrics on this album, tapping themes of independence, positivity and fighting loneliness and social pressure. The upcoming album proves to be dynamic, highlighting the expansive sonic direction K'NAAN has explored writing and recording over the last year.

Also lending to his many influences, while making the upcoming record, are the social activist campaigns he has taken part in. This includes his efforts for the Clinton Foundation and participation in the "Decade to Difference" concert last October to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the foundation.

K'NAAN has recently been selected to be a part of Vh1's 'You Oughta Know Artist' campaign and has already been declared an "Artist to Watch" by Rolling Stone, NPR, The Los Angeles Times and MTV. With his unique perspective on hip-hop and a devoted activist for his home-country of Somalia, K'NAAN is the true essence of a modern day artist.
