DANIEL POWTER to release new album
Turn on the Lights August 14th
[Daniel BW 2]
Daniel Powter is set to release his brand new album, Turn on the Lights, on August 14th. First single "Cupid" has been climbing the Hot AC chart since its April release. The track, produced by veteran hitmaker Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, Gavin DeGraw, All-American Rejects), is one of the effervescent, summer-ready pop tracks off Powter's anticipated fourth full-length album.
Best known for worldwide smash and top Billboard Hot 100 song of 2006 "Bad Day," Powter's latest efforts are a true return to form for the musician. "For the first time in a long time, I felt like I didn't have anything to prove while I was writing this record," he explains. "I was just writing music because that's what I love to do-that's how I make sense of the world. And I think in that process I kind of grew up a little bit."
ABOUT DANIEL POWTER:
Powter's first single, "Bad Day", was first released in Europe in mid 2005, in advance of his second album, Daniel Powter. The song achieved heavy airplay in most European countries, peaking at number three on the overall European airplay chart. It reached number one on national airplay in Germany, number one on the singles charts in the Republic of Ireland and Italy, number two in the United Kingdom,-where it stayed in the top ten for thirteen weeks-and number three in Australia. "Bad Day" spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Powter was the only act to register a #1 hit that year without previously having had another song chart in the Hot 100.
