ALBERTA CROSS* Songs of Patience (ATO Records)
[Alberta Cross - Songs of Patience high res cover 300x300.jpeg]Today, the much loved and critically-lauded Brooklyn-based duo Alberta Cross will be releasing their highly anticipated album, Songs of Patience, on ATO Records. After touring relentlessly with Them Crooked Vultures, Oasis, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and delivering breakout performances at Bonnaroo and Sasquatch, the band started on a three-year journey to create Songs of Patience. Aiming to rediscover their Americana and roots sound, the band headed to an abandoned house near Woodstock, NY to record some initial tracks. The Woodstock session left them feeling inspired and it was at that moment they decided to move away from The Big Apple and head west to Los Angeles in hopes to find a different perspective for Songs of Patience. However, the west coast recording sessions only left the core members, Petter Ericson Stakee (vocals/guitar) and Terry Wolfers (bass), admitting the record needed more revisions. After taking some time to reflect on the direction of the album, the guys ended up moving back to Brooklyn, NY. Recording in New York City allowed them to expand on their creativity, pen additional tracks and re-mix/re-track a few songs from the Woodstock and L.A. sessions. The title, Songs of Patience, is, in many ways literal, but the great deal of time spent on the record led to one of the finest, most visceral rock albums of 2012. In support of Songs of Patience, Alberta Cross is currently on their U.S. headlining tour with label mates Everest. See remaining tour dates listed below.

Praise On Alberta Cross:
“Alberta Cross channels their rock roots on their new album… and it reflects the evolution of their folk-rock sound. From "Magnolia," an acoustic, Band of Horses-esque feel-good track that opens the album, to the gritty rumble that frames "Crate of Gold" and the wistful ballad "Bonfire," Songs of Patience is a trip though singer-songwriter-guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee's psyche, each note divulging more of his unique perception of the world around him.” – RollingStone.com<http://RollingStone.com/>

“On the basis of advance single "Lay Down," the new record will be no less massive than its predecessor. Where the Brooklyn-based, London-transplanted duo's breakout album carried echoes of Kings of Leon and My Morning Jacket, this stadium-size midtempo rocker also has the shamanic swagger of early Verve or former Alberta Cross tourmates Oasis.” – Spin.com<http://Spin.com/>

“Songs of Patience is the band's first album in three years, and the long pause between releases has allowed the band to take back control of their songwriting. Alberta Cross' country-influenced folk-rock music is brought out in a stunning light on this latest release.” – InterviewMagazine.com<http://InterviewMagazine.com/>
“A follow-up to the group’s 2009 debut Broken Side Of Time, the album expands on the duo’s propulsive, grandiose rock sound. “Magnolia” is a thoughtful, expansive number that feels ready for a stadium show.” – RCRDLBL

JJAMZ * Suicide Pact (Dangerbird)
[JJAMZ cover art]JJAMZ (pronounced juh-Jamz) is comprised of Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes), James Valentine (Maroon 5), Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Michael Runion (solo), and Z Berg (The Like) – in a musical story of best friends. Made up of five of music’s most exciting trailblazers, the members of JJAMZ are releasing their debut album, Suicide Pact TODAY via Dangerbird. Suicide Pact was self-produced by the band with the added talents of Jason Lader (Maroon 5, Rilo Kiley, Julian Casablancas). Only friends as close as JJAMZ could provide such a rewarding synthesis of disparate musical tastes, coupled with perilously revealing lyrics; it's as if Rumours were recorded by My Bloody Valentine, Fiona Apple sang “Heart of Glass”, or Andrew W.K. wrote Saturday Night Fever. From the Madonna-esque lead single “Heartbeat” to the churning, he-said, she-said “LAX” and the wistfully dark album title track “Suicide Pact” to the crooning, smooth vocal pairings between Berg and Runion on “Cleverly Disguised”, each and every song stands on its own as a heart-wrenching narrative and a master course in lyrical prowess. JJAMZ are currently on tour as part of the Nylon Summer Music Tour, supporting Neon Trees. Full tour routing is below.

Praise for JJAMZ:
“Imagine young Madonna as a Britpop act. Or a supergroup from The Like, Maroon 5, Rilo Kiley and Phantom Planet.” – USA Today

“…[JJAMZ] has produced one of the year's best indie-rock records so far, full of sticky tunes, chewy guitar textures and some excellently icy vocals.” – Mikael Wood, Time Out New York

“Los Angeles supercrew is marooned on a Rilo-esque planet, mines most vanilla bits out of Madonna, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac.” – SPIN.com<http://SPIN.com/>

“…sun-soaked melancholy goes down like a poolside daiquiri, serving up synth shimmers and breathy SoCal alienation (see the excellently hazy ‘Heartbeat’)…” – Entertainment Weekly

“While JJAMZ is more than the sum of its many parts, that it’s filled with anthemic aggressive-pop tracks is no surprise…” – ELLE.com<http://ELLE.com/>
