DANIEL POWTER
Musician behind hit "Bad Day" proves the best days are yet to come - new album, Turn on the Lights, out this Summer!
First single "Cupid" already getting early attention on top Adult Top 40 stations across the country
[Description: Daniel BW]
Chart topping musician and songwriter Daniel Powter has announced the forthcoming release of his album, Turn on the Lights, out this summer. First single "Cupid," available for sale digitally today, is just one of the many effervescent, summer-ready pop tracks off Turn on the Lights.
The strummy groove "Cupid," is the perfect example of what's still to come from Daniel: a soulful, irresistibly catchy first single - a track already catching radio attention with early air play in New York, San Francisco, Tampa, Denver, Las Vegas, Fresno, Spokane and Boise. "Cupid" impacts Hot AC this Monday, April 16th.

Best known for the worldwide smash and top Billboard Hot 100 song of 2006 "Bad Day," Powter's latest collection is a true return to form for the musician - back in front of the piano, and creating stirring songs reflecting the refreshed positive mindset which carries him these days. Time off after his last release may have contributed to that, providing a freedom that resulted in reinvigorated creativity and music flowing more freely for Daniel than it had in years.
"It's about me emerging from the dark, almost Jekyll and Hyde. I feel like I'm writing more uplifting songs," says Powter. "Turn On The Lights is about baring it all. I'm revealing all of my secrets."
Powter's first single, "Bad Day," was first released in Europe in mid-2005, in advance of his self-titled second album. In the United States, the song was used extensively on American Idol before reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Top 40 and Adult Contemporary charts, making Powter the first solo Canadian male artist to top the Hot 100 since Bryan Adams in 1995. The song also reached number one in Powter's homeland of Canada. The song was nominated at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards for Hot 100 Single of the Year, and was named Billboard magazine's song of the year in 2006. At the 2007 Grammy Awards, Powter also received a Best Male Pop Vocal Performance nomination for the song.
