What is bad is now there is so much stuff. Stuff to buy. Stuff to consume. Stuff to pine for. Stuff to read. Stuff to listen to. Stuff. Stuff that eats our time. Stuff that tells us who's worthy of our love. And whos not.

Did Bernays imagine all this fuckin stuff? Yesterdays heaven stacked dusty in bursting closets

We have the umpteenth newly updated model of finely woven everything. And we're still bored. Still sad. Still angry. Still lost.

No bands, just brands.

There's a Quiet Going On.

So we had this epiphany. A Fixtape. Free music. A good virus. Sent through computer networks. Around the world. Jammin music. That fixes shit.

We are the niggas that have returned from Paris. We do not have chiffon scarves, paparazzi babies or design houses.

We have come to teach you three chords. Now start a band.

We're puttin out fixtapes. To End the quiet. You don't have to buy stuff. Freedom is free.

But the artists and prophets making these fixtapes? What shall they eat? Marie Antoinette was wrong. Let them eat air.

It's the last lesson. The one that hurts the most. Freedom can hurt you too.

-Excerpt from "Steal This Song" Manifesto, Chuck Lightning

Janelle Monáe Producers, Deep Cotton Present the World's First Fixtape:
"Runaway Radio" Coming September 25, 2013
Download The First Song "We're Far Enough From Heaven Now We Can Freak Out" on Pigeons & Planes Today!

Why the founding members of Deep Cotton - Nate "Rocket" Wonder and Chuck Lightning - jumped on Harleys and joined the punk rock motorcycle gang known as the Rolling Bones is still unknown. According to certain dubious sources, the duo have been hard at work on secret products of their own: including, but certainly not limited to, a raucous suite of five neck-snapping songs named Runaway Radio, which will be released for free at www.deepcotton.net<http://www.deepcotton.net> on September 25th, 2013. According to the duo, the suite is the world's very first "Fixtape," meaning it's a jamming musical experience, available for free download online and designed to "fix" the ills of the world through the peaceful and electrifying power of music.

The duo has been quite active in the Atlanta music scene - first, along with their illustrious partner in crime, Janelle Monáe, they founded an arts collective named the Wondaland Arts Society<http://www.wondaland.com/>, and secondly, according to secret agents, they have recently been sighted smiling and jamming while wearing white plastic earbuds - certified proof that they were hard at work co-writing and producing The Electric Lady, Janelle Monáe's magisterial second album, which will be released on September 10th, 2013. You can read about Chuck and Nate, and the new album in Pitchfork's cover feature on Janelle Monae HERE<http://pitchfork.com/features/cover-story/reader/janelle-monae/>. When not tearing up stages across America, the Grammy-nominated duo has also served as the primary co-writers and producers on several acclaimed Janelle Monáe endeavors, including Metropolis Suite I The Chase, and The ArchAndroid.

The band Deep Cotton got its start at Outlandia, a communal farmstead in rural Georgia where freaks, hippies and computer programmers hung out with black beatniks, Baptist strippers and acid rock poets. In fact, the band's song "We're Far Enough From Heaven Now We Can Freak Out" was the original campfire anthem played nightly in front of the fireplace in the Boom Boom Hallelujah room. If the song sounds familiar, you may recognize it from the Sonos commercial featuring Janelle Monáe - watch HERE<http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7Ya7/sonos-featuring-janelle-monae-song-by-deep-cotton>. The song can also be downloaded on Pigeons & Planes<http://pigeonsandplanes.com/2013/09/deep-cotton-were-far-enough-from-heaven-now-we-can-freak-out-download/> today for free!
