A collaboration with celebrated animator and video director Galen Pehrson, the masterfully crafted film tells a revisionist story, through intricate hand-drawn animation, of two lovers from antiquity separated by time and space; she is ancient Egypt, he in 90's Brooklyn. Kweli and Pehrson astutely play with the concepts of mysticism and magic; the characters are interpretations of the classical figures Isis and Anubis.  The idea of disparate parts merging full circle is echoed by the juxtaposition of Kweli's lyrics and Miguel's R&B hook, as well as the use of the time machine. The animated short is comprised of more than 6,400 hand drawn images, in a classic 2D digital animation style, a lost art in this digital age.

Kweli's 5th solo album Prisoner of Conscious (Javotti Media), his 7th Top 10 album to debut on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart, boasts a slew of guest features including Busta Rhymes, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar, Melanie Fiona, Marsha Ambrosius, Miguel, Nelly, Ryan Leslie and Seu Jorge. The album brought Talib to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, NPR All Things Considered, Tavis Smiley and WNYC Soundcheck Live from the Greene Space and received praise from the likes of Billboard, USA Today, Vibe, Complex, NPR, Associated Press and Relix among many others. On June 28th, Kweli and his band will appear on Guitar Center Sessions on DIRECTV at 9pm ET/10pm PT.
