Nominated for 4 GRAMMYs Including Best Rap Album for Life Is Good

[Matt Salacuse - Nas Lounge LR]It was announced last night that Nas has received four GRAMMY nominations in conjunction with the release of his best selling new album, Life Is Good. The artist was recognized in the categories of Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for his hit single "Daughters," Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Cherry Wine" ft. Amy Winehouse and Best Rap Album for Life Is Good, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, marking the sixth #1 album that the artist has produced in his career. Life Is Good was also just named one of Rolling Stone's 2012 'Albums of the Year.' These recognitions from the GRAMMYs mark the rap icon's 13th career nominations overall.

A hip-hop icon since the early 1990s, Nas emerged from the Queensbridge neighborhood of Long Island City, a hotbed of rap artist since the '80s.  The son of jazz trumpeter Olu Dara, Nas has since gone on to sell over 20 million albums worldwide over the span of his legendary career, and has acted as an ambassador for hip-hop culture throughout the globe. The first full-length album by the poet and rhyme-master Nas arrived in 1994, the RIAA platinum Illmatic. Since then he has released 9 solo albums and 3 compilation albums all of which have been certified either double-platinum, platinum and gold.
