THE ROOTS ANNOUNCE SERIES OF HIGH PROFILE SHOWS IN NEW YORK CITY

June 20th & 21st at New York City's Blue Note Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson will present a super group comprised of himself w/ Booker T. Jones, Gary Bartz, Christian McBride, Eric Krazno

June 22nd  at New York City's Blue Note The Roots will recreate "Paid in Full" in its entirety with Rakim to celebrate the album's 25th Anniversary

June 23rd The Roots will perform at the Van Jones MoveOn event at Towne Hall



[+Group_02_225_300_RGB LR]The Roots announced a series of shows at New York City's Blue Note for the week of June 20, with a final show at Town Hall. On June 20th and 21st, The Roots drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson will be presenting a super group comprised of himself, Booker T. Jones, Gary Bartz, Christian McBride and Eric Kranzo. On June 22nd, The Roots will be recreating the iconic album "Paid in Full" to celebrate its 25th Anniversary alongside Rakim. Ending the week, The Roots will be performing at the Van Jones MoveOn event at Town Hall.
ABOUT THE SHOWS
June 20-21
To kick-off the week, Questlove will perform at Blue Note at 9:00pm and 11:30pm. The jazz house will showcase a collaboration of reputable artists, featuring ?uestlove on the drums and electronics, Booker T on the organ and keyboard and as vocals, Krasno on guitar, and Christian McBride on bass. Ahmir was a co-producer with Booker T on the artist's latest release, as well as a co-producer with McBride on the "Philadelphia Experiment". Gary Bartz is a jazz legend who presently resides in Philadelphia and has sat in on live Roots sets a number of times.
June 22
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Rakim's album "Paid in Full", The Roots and Rakim will be recreating the album in its entirety on Wednesday night at 9:00 PM and 11:30 PM. Credited as a benchmark album of the golden age hip-hop, this night of music will culminate into a night not to be missed!
June 23
The Roots will be performing at the launch of Rebuild the Dream, sponsored by Van Jones, on Thursday which will start at 8:00PM at New York City's historic Town Hall. Van Jones calls this new wave of energy the "American Dream Movement". Along with The Roots, artists/DJ Shepard Fairey and other celebrities will be appearing at the campaign commencement. www.rebuildthedream.com
