New York, NY (September 6, 2007) -- Chali 2na is currently in the studio
recording his solo album Fish Outta Water with hit producers already
including will.i.am, Scott Storch, Rafael Saadiq, Saalem Remi, and
hip-hop artist David Banner. Chali 2na is most recognized from his
involvement in the now separated Los Angeles-based hip-hop group
Jurassic 5.=20
Chali 2na continuously stood apart in the Jurassic 5 roster due to his
unmistakable baritone vocals and varied wordplay. With the recent split
of the group, he is prepared to make his own personal contribution with
his solo album Fish Outta Water, taking his artistic talent to the next
level.
Appearing at Bonnaroo this summer, Chali 2na was a special guest
performer with Galactic, and he is also featured on new album which is
slated for release this year. He will also be featured along with Biz
Markie on the Baby Loves Hip-Hop series produced by Prince Paul to be
released in Summer 2008.
Hearkening back to a time when vocal groups such as the Crash Crew, the
Cold Crush Brothers and Funky Four +1 were focusing on the more
enjoyable side of hip-hop, Jurassic 5's music was a throwback to this
type of sound but with its added signature flair. With the presence of
competent emcees able to harmonize entire verses over party-ready
rhythms with the greatest of ease, Jurassic 5 was quickly popularized
