NEW YORK, NY January 14, 2012-Singer-songwriter NEON HITCH, who's magnetic vocals first caught our attention on the Gym Class Heroes hit, "Ass Back Home," and has since graced the charts with her own hits, "Love You Betta" and "Gold," has released her  Happy Neon EP  today! Produced by Neon and Happy Perez, the five-song collection reveals a glimpse into Neon's world, somewhere in between reality and fantasy.  Expect cameos from your favorite Wizard of Oz characters! But, don't let this and the EP title fool you. The music this time around is a bit of a departure from her past radio hits, reflecting a bit more of an introspective side both musically and lyrically, and coming from a true and honest place within Neon-something that would make any songwriter 'happy' to expose.



"I've been going through a time of musical rebirth and I wanted to create something special, free and magical for my fans!" says Neon about the making the EP.



Growing up in a gypsy lifestyle, has helped Neon hone valuable skills as a performer. After life on the bus started to unravel with frequent police raids, an abusive step-dad and an expanding family in a single mobile home, Neon ran away.  Ultimately, landing the rebellious Neon in London and homeless.  After bouncing between her dad's place in London, Europe and India, key meetings with Neneh Cherry, Mike Skinner (The Streets), and the social networking site MySpace would then land her in the hands of multi-platinum hit producer Benny Blanco who saw her knack for songwriting.  Neon went on to write music alongside Imogen Heap, Sia, Jason Derulo and Bruno Mars, and wrote Ke$ha's hit "Blah Blah Blah."



"It feels a bit phony singing what someone else has written. I don't think anyone can tell my story better than I can so I think I'm best to just write my own songs. I have a lot that I need to say." And getting it all out has made Neon nothing but happy! While she might have a dark-tinged past and is tapping into that past on Happy Neon, Neon's world is bright and vibrant, down to her "gypsy palace" she resides in in downtown New York.





While Spin Magazine has tapped her as deserving of "household name status," Neon is just, well, happy.
