10th Annual Reggae Carifest to take place at USTA Flushing Meadows Park
Queens on July 6th

NEW YORK, NY June 5, 2008 - The press conference for Carifest
C.A.R.E.S., held at Jay Z's 40/40 club last night in New York City was a
success, with a night of good music and bringing awareness to a very
important cause. This year's festival has teamed up with Keep A Child
Alive, an organization dedicated to helping children and families to
obtain life-saving AIDS drugs and support for survival, where without
it, they would die. Keep a Child Alive gives 100% of donations to this
cause. Reggae Carifest/Carifest C.A.R.E.S 2008 will donate $2 from every
ticket sold for this event to Keep A Child Alive.

The evening, hosted by the infamous Shorty of Power 105 was kick started
by a compelling speech by Maria Davis of MAD who is an HIV survivor and
educator. She had the room in rapt attention as she talked about her
plight as someone living with HIV and how everyone can help raise
awareness for the cause. Other panelists were representatives of
Carifest C.A.R.E.S sponsors Abbot Laboratories and Keep A Child Alive.
Artists performing at the event on July 6th also had a panel discussion
and spoke about their involvement with the festival as well as their
united belief in supporting the cause. On the panel was: Kayla Bliss,
Causion, Groundation, Meta and the Cornerstones and Matisyahu and
Midnite who broke into an impromptu performance, as well as festival
organizer Alfonso D'Niscio Brooks who had this to say:

duet performance for the cause. They have been trying to get their
schedules together for a long time. It was an indication that you never
know what might happen at the event on July 6th with all of these great
artists in the same place."

Lee "Scratch" Perry, who has been an innovator and at the forefront of
the reggae music scene for 50 years, as well as, Matisyahu, who brings
his uncanny, electrifying fusion of orthodox Judaism and classic reggae;
Cutting edge St. Croix roots reggae band, Midnite, Brooklyn bred and
Jamaican raised Kayla Bliss; the up and coming conscious reggae crooner
Uriel Hamilton; Afro-fusion reggae fronted by a soaring, soulful voice
in Meta and the Cornerstones; Antigua & Barbuda's Causion who has been
dubbed a 'musical archer' due to his straightforward and provocative
lyrics; a young American hailing from Arkansas with his voice rooted
deep in Jamaica, Joseph Israel; Groundation who bring to the table, a
unique infusion of reggae, jazz and dub and the most recent addition to
the line-up: Slightly Stoopid who describe their music as " A fusion of
