New Album Glitterbug Out April 14th

Today, The Wombats’ have released their latest track “Give Me A Try," which is dubbed as Zane Lowe’s “Hottest Record,” and is streaming exclusively via Idolator. Produced by Mark Crew (Bastille) with The Wombats, “Give Me A Try” is taken from the band’s upcoming album Glitterbug that will be released on April 14th via Bright Antenna Records.

The album’s themes were inspired by core songwriter and frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy’s experiences in Los Angeles. Drawn to the city’s mix of “opulence and anxiety,” his songwriting for the LP focused upon the idea of writing about a tumultuous relationship with a fictional woman from LA. “Give Me A Try” reflects how Murph’s fictional ideas evolved into real life concerns when he started dating a seemingly unattainable woman from the city.

“I really love that song,” says Murph. “It’s special to me because it has a far more positive outlook than what you’ve heard from us in the past.”

The album’s first single “Greek Tragedy” heralded an impressive return for the trio. The single peaked at #2 on Hype Machine’s Popular Chart, landed #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, was chosen as a Radio 1 Track of the Day as well as XFM’s Record of the Week. Completed by bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis, The Wombats have already played a series of intimate underplay shows ahead of the release of Glitterbug. Their upcoming live schedule includes extensive shows across mainland Europe; a UK tour that’s already entirely sold-out; and a month-long North American tour. Full list of dates below.
