May 10, 2012 - New York, NY – From stage, to screen, and now showcasing his songwriting chops, Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Glee, Xanadu) is releasing his first-ever original music, the emotionally charged single “Drive,” today, via Hickory Records. The debut track is currently streaming on Perez Hilton (Press Here<http://perezhilton.com/2012-05-10-cheyenne-jackson-drive-single-audio-covert-art-quotes>), and available for purchase on iTunes (Press Here<http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/drive/id524880172?i=524880186&ign-mpt=uo%3D4>) and Amazon (Press Here<http://www.amazon.com/Drive/dp/B0080T8IQ6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336654191&sr=8-2>) worldwide.

While known for his work on Broadway and TV, Jackson’s musical background stems much deeper – from days growing up on the rural Idaho-Washington border, where his parents immersed the family in the songs of Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Bob Dylan; inspiring him to start writing songs of his own.

Now, his tastes have expanded beyond these folk roots, incorporating inspiration from the likes of Sting to Roy Orbison to Elton John and George Michael. His friend Australian singer-songwriter Sia encouraged him to record his songs and share his music with the masses.

On “Drive” Cheyenne debuts a buoyantly uplifting sound, highlighted by his smooth vocals and poignant lyrics – a more personal look from a performer used to portraying a character’s feelings rather than his own. When the bridge comes in, and Jackson’s voice crests high above a bed of propulsive guitar and drums, the listener can immediately hear the power of his vocal range. Cheyenne deftly blends folk music’s heartfelt storytelling with the grand stature of his classical Broadway training, all the while infusing a fresh pop approach to his music. No doubt about it, he knows melody, which is what makes “Drive” instantly familiar and addictive.

"I wanted to write a song about keeping forward momentum in your life, and having the strength to leave a situation that you know in your heart is bad for you,” Jackson says about “Drive.” “It ended up being melancholy, but ultimately hopeful and optimistic, just like me."

With his sound now firmly established, “Drive” is just the first stop for Jackson. He will perform “Drive” live for the first time at the Life Ball in Vienna on May 19th, alongside Gloria Estefan and Scissor Sisters. Audiences can expect to see and hear much more from Cheyenne.
