ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION FEATURING JERRY DOUGLAS TO JOIN PAUL MCCARTNEY FOR 2012 MUSICARES® PERSON OF THE YEAR TRIBUTE

CELEBRATED NASHVILLE 5-PIECE ARE CONFIRMED TO PERFORM AT SOLD OUT LOS ANGELES EVENT HONORING PAUL MCCARTNEY. LINE UP INCLUDES TONY BENNETT, COLDPLAY, DUANE EDDY, FOO FIGHTERS, ALICIA KEYS, DIANA KRALL, NORAH JONES, KATY PERRY, SERGIO MENDES, JAMES TAYLOR AND NEIL YOUNG WITH CRAZY HORSE.

The Recording Academy’s annual MusiCares gala takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday February 10th, just two days before the 54th Grammy Awards at the Staples Center. Alison Krauss & Union Station’s latest album Paper Airplane (Rounder Records) is nominated for two awards this year in the categories of Best Bluegrass Album and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical).

Established in 1989 by The Recording Academy, MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares' services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.

Upon its release in April 2011 Paper Airplane became Alison Krauss And Union Station’s fastest selling and highest charting release to date. The album - the band’s first in seven years -  ebuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #3 and at #1 on the Country, Bluegrass and Folk Albums Charts, a career best for the Nashville-based 5-piece.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at The Staples Center is Los Angeles on February 12th 2011. The show will be broadcast on CBS at 8/7c.
