> Gruff Rhys proudly presents a new double a-side single, video and accompanying game! The single is comprised of Space Dust #2 and Whale Trail. One of the many highlights of Gruff’s current Hotel Shampoo album, Space Dust #2 is a tale of short-lived, seminar-sparked romance in the form of a duet with El Perro Del Mar. The playful Whale Trail sees Gruff singing “this is a motivational song, let’s all get along” and has been inspired by the accompanying iPhone game of the same name. Both the single and the game are out on October 20th.

> Just like the song, the Whale Trail game is a highly addictive affair. Players pilot Willow The Whale as he flies through the skies collecting colors and points. Gruff has provided the soundtrack to Willow The Whale’s adventures, as well as the voiceover, in Welsh. The Whale Trail app has been designed by Neil McFarland of award winning digital design studio ustwo - Neil’s previous collaborations with Gruff include artwork for Super Furry Animals’Juxtaposed With You single and animations for the band’s innovative Rings Around The World and Phantom PowerDVD albums. Neil McFarland also directed the accompanying music video for Whale Trail which premiered today on Pitchfork {LINK}.

> Gruff Rhys’s heroically adventurous outlook has, in the past few months alone, seen him release an experimental, collaborative album with a Brazilian TV repairman; feature alongside De La Soul and Gorillaz on a song about a fictional fast food breakfast product; exhibit his own art installation created from hoarded hotel paraphernalia from across the globe; collaborate with visual artist Phil Collins; release his widely acclaimed third solo album, Hotel Shampoo; and, most recently, headline stages at several summer festivals including Glastonbury, Field Day, Green Man and End Of The Road. Gruff’s other, earlier activities include two solo LPs - Yr Atal Genhedlaeth, sung entirely in Welsh, and 2007’s understatedly epic Candylion - the Mercury nominated Neon Neon synth-pop concept album, providing the only British contribution to Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse’s Dark Night Of The Soul, and, of course, his ongoing tenure as chief songwriter, singer, guitarist and frontman of Super Furry Animals.
