*THE MUSIC LOVERS
Masculine, Feminine (Le Grand Magistery)

=20
=8CMasculine, Feminine=B9 can be described as battered, inebriate and sensual a=
s
well as defiantly and unfashionably romantic - the first three months of a
new love affair or seven years in jail for a crime of passion. San
Francisco=B9s acclaimed pop-sophisticates are led by transplanted English
songwriter Matthew Edwards on lead vocals and guitar, accompanied by Jon
Brooder (bass, harmonica), Bryan Cain (guitar, backing vocals), Kate Weeks
(viola, percussion, keyboards), Ping Chu (drums), and on occasion, Jun
Kurihara (vocals, accordion, piano.) Their third album on Le Grand
Magistery, =8CMasculine Feminine=B9 marks the pinnacle of the band=B9s artistic
endeavours. Edwards refers to the album as his own personal =8CDay of the
Locust.=B9 These are desperate songs born of need and frustration, but never
dreary or self-pitying. Rather, they show a formidable spirit of abandon to
the pop aesthetic, saddling the darkest sensibilities and most wicked
proclivities to the sweetest pop-song frame-works. Influences range from
Serge Gainsbourg, Dusty Springfield, Prefab Sprout, The Zombies, The Smiths
and Roxy Music to Jimmy Webb, Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Bad Seeds,
Go-Betweens, The Clash and Pulp. If David Goodis had written lyrics for
Carole King they might have sounded a bit like this record.

*WILL DAILEY
Fashion of Distraction (CBS Records)
www.willdailey.com=20
The first installment of Will Dailey=B9s new music series, Torrent, is set fo=
r
digital release today, January 20th via CBS Records. The EP contains five
songs thematically linked by Dailey=B9s source of inspiration while writing
them and features a guest appearance by The Byrds=B9 lead singer and guitaris=
t
Roger McGuinn. The second digital volume, By the Blue Hills, was influence=
d
by the landscape and unique energy of his hometown of Boston and will follo=
w
on April 28th. Both volumes will also be available together and released
physically with additional bonus tracks as Torrent 1 & 2 on April 28th.
=20
A widely acclaimed singer-songwriter whose songs have recently been feature=
d
on popular TV shows such as 90210 and CSI: NY, Dailey=B9s current mode of
songwriting wasn=B9t suited to the well-worn path that most artists never
deviate from: pick your 10 to 12 best songs and go make a record. Dailey
had no shortage of songs, but they were written in batches that each
explored a common theme and didn=B9t necessarily all belong on the same disk.
This became the concept behind Will=B9s adventurous project, Torrent, which h=
e
will release as multiple music volumes throughout 2009. Instead of waiting
2-3 years for a new album, he will be launching bursts of new music every
2-3 months.=20
