YOUNG THE GIANT * Thursday January 20 @ Mercury Lounge
On the heels of an electrifying national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
last week and a performance last night on Fuel TV's The Daily Habit,
SoCal rock outfit Young The Giant will play a sold-out show at NYC's
Mercury Lounge this Thursday January 20th as part of their first
headlining tour. Their self-- titled debut is due for release January
25th on Roadrunner Records. Rousing lead single "My Body" was recently
featured as the iTunes Single of The Week and has been heating up
airwaves across the country, reaching the Top 20 on the Alternative
Radio Chart and climbing. Killer hooks, heart-pounding drum patterns and
chiming guitars invoke time and place - stories of both sun-soaked
memories, jilted lovers and everything in between - making for one of
the most memorable shows you'll see all year. Young the Giant was named
"rising stars" by Billboard, called "vivid, vibrant rock...a pop
masterpiece" by the Wall Street Journal and named the #3 Rock Album of
2010 by Amazon. Starting the New Year in strong fashion, Young the Giant
was named as one of MySpace/Fuse's "Introducing..." artists, the marquee
music program showcasing emerging artists. (gina at pressherepublicity.com

a pop masterpiece..." -Wall Street Journal

influence, recalling locations visited and people met, as the band craft
amiable rock numbers that are at once sparklingly warm and cooly
removed...fresh and compelling... " - Alternative Press

WANDA JACKSON* Friday, January 21st @ The Music Hall Of Williamsburg
With a remarkable career that began in 1955, Wanda Jackson, credited
with being the first woman to ever record a rock and roll song - "Let's
Have a Party" in 1958 - was convinced by her friend Elvis Presley to

Hall of Famer is now known around the globe as "The Queen Of
Rockabilly". Jackson was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement
Award at the 2010 Americana Music Awards in Nashville. The award - in
the category of Performance - was presented to her by Jack White, friend
and producer of her new album The Party Ain't Over out NEXT WEEK on
White's label Third Man Records and Nonesuch Records. Do not miss this

Praise For Wanda Jackson:
"The perfect complement to whiskey-drenched heartbreak, The Party Ain't
Over is also a boot-stompin' good time." - Blackbook Magazine
"the old girl's growls are nasty, the surf-guitar lines chilling and the
New Orleans brass outro wicked. When's the album?" - Rolling Stone
"...thrilling audiences by singing as gustily as Carl Perkins and
rocking as hard as Jerry Lew Lewis, her records "Let's Have a Party,"
"Fujiyama Mama," and "Funnel of Love" are white-hot rockabilly classics"

XYLOS ~ Saturday, January 22 @ Bowery Electric @ 10 pm
Brooklyn electro-pop quintet Xylos will be premiering songs from their
self-titled April 2011 debut album at Bowery Electric on January 22.
Over the past 2 years, the band has been gathering fans and praise for
their lush, '80s-inspired pop and Monika Heidemann's intoxicating,
otherworldly vocals. Xylos' self-titled debut album, recorded by
Yeasayer and Chairlift producer Britt Myers in his NYC studio, will be
out April 5, 2011. New York Press wrote that their track ""Darling
Dearest' is like a female-fronted Hot Chip song mashed up with a Field
Mice song," and they were just named one of the New York Post Popwrap
Blog's "10 Artists to Know in 2011" for their sophisticated-yet-playful
songs, weaving together lush harmonies, electronic production, and
soaring vocal melodies that draw on influences ranging from Kate Bush,
ABBA and Steve Reich. (angie at pressherepublicity.com)
