The band is also thrilled to be hitting the road with a slew of dates this fall including a performance at Index Festival in Dallas, TX. Happy Hollows will be taking their friends Son of Stan on the road with them and playing select dates with Atlas Genius- see below for full routing!

Happy Hollows are the unlikeliest of matches, comprised of polar opposites: free-spirited mystic & tarot card reader Sarah Negahdari and UCLA Ph.D. Charlie Mahoney. Negahdari and Mahoney met in 2006 at a Los Angeles strip mall - where Negahdari was reading tarot cards. Mahoney had just moved to Los Angeles from Washington D.C. to pursue his Ph.D. in political science. Neither of  them would imagine they would spend the next few years of their lives writing songs together, becoming a staple of Los Angeles' underground music scene, and touring throughout the United States in a blue Chevrolet mini-van with over 200,000 miles on the odometer. For Amethyst, Negahdari and Mahoney enlisted the support of close friend, artful guitarist, and vegan guitar strap creator, Matthew Fry.

Happy Hollows started out their career focusing on their live shows and playing anywhere they could, from laundry mats and sushi restaurants, to opening for the likes of Deerhoof, Japandroids, and Silversun Pickups on tour. A fierce and daring woman in rock music, Negahdari's magnetic stage presence and striking musical prowess helped put Happy Hollows on the map of the LA music scene and elevated their live performance to the next level. The band released their debut full length Spells (2010) which Pitchfork raved that Negahdari was "an obvious talent...let her hog the spotlight she so clearly deserves". Wired Magazine said, "Sarah is simply murder on the guitar," and Metromix named her one of the Top Ten guitar goddesses in the world, calling her a "flawless performer."

With Amethyst, Negahdari delighted in a newfound sense of sonic experimentation, incorporating the additional beautiful and melodic guitar lines from Fry, and highlighting Mahoney's talent and use of synths and electronics, while staying true to her band's indie rock origins. Amethyst was recorded with producer Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fools Gold) at Black Iris studios in Echo Park and Infrasonic Sound in Los Angeles.
