JACK'S MANNEQUIN TO PLAY FINAL SHOW FOR
THE DEAR JACK FOUNDATION'S
THIRD ANNUAL BENEFIT SHOW ON NOVEMBER 11th

Acclaimed California rock band Jack's Mannequin will be playing their final show on November 11th at the El Rey Theatre.  The show, which will feature special guests, will benefit Jack's Mannequin singer/pianist Andrew McMahon's charity - THE DEAR JACK FOUNDATION. In the spring of 2005, Andrew McMahon and his band Jack's Mannequin embarked on their first U.S. headlining tour.  However, before completing the tour, Andrew paid a visit to his voice doctor because he became concerned about his health.  The following morning, Andrew was admitted to the hospital because the results of his blood work were alarming.  Ultimately, everyone's worst fears were confirmed: Andrew had Acute Lymphatic Leukemia (ALL).

Throughout the summer of 2005, Andrew underwent two rounds of chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and, with a stroke of good luck, a successful stem cell transplant from his sister.  During his battle with ALL, it became clear to Andrew that in a generation where cancer has become the second largest cause of death in the U.S. and the biggest public action item relevant to health, there were still major shortfalls in treatment, support, and research on behalf of the young adult demographic.  In an effort to initiate change and provide a voice for the generations of young adults, ages 15-39, who have been diagnosed with cancer, Andrew founded THE DEAR JACK FOUNDATION in July of 2006.  THE DEAR JACK FOUNDATION'S mission is to be a leader in raising awareness and supporting organizations with the highest impact on young adult cancer patients.

As such, McMahon merged his love of music with his cause, producing two benefit shows prior to the show this November.  Featuring bands such as Fun. and Matt Nathanson in the past, this third show is the final performance for Jack's Mannequin, and will be full of guest appearances from throughout the band's storied history.  100% of the proceeds will benefit THE DEAR JACK FOUNDATION and their support of young adult cancer research, hospitals, and life initiative programs.
