THE KNOCKS *Saturday, January 14th @ The Satellite
NYC-based producers turned electro-hip-pop duo The Knocks released their new Magic EP (A&M/Octone) last month, debuting in the Top 10 on the iTunes Dance Chart in the company of Skrillex, Deadmau5, Kaskade and David Guetta. Now, they are hitting the road for their first live dates of 2012, with a stop at The Satellite on Jan 14th. With a nu-disco vibe, club-friendly beats, glorious choruses and piano hooks, the duo has been praised for making electronic music sound organic, installing a soul and some funky grooves amongst all the ones and zeros. Shortly after the NME declared The Knocks to be one of the "20 hottest producers in music" for their versatile production and remix work for the likes of Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Foster The People, Chiddy Bang and Katy Perry, the NME was once again singing The Knocks' praises, this time for their own songs, saying that they have "stepped out from behind the desk to rebirth the Superstar DJ." WHEELER BROTHERS * Saturday, January 14th @ The Mint
[HomePressPhoto_Pat Cassidy]Indie-Americana five-piece, Wheeler Brothers, are making their way through Los Angeles on Saturday, January 14th at The Mint! Wheeler Brothers have quickly emerged as one of Austin's most exciting up-and-coming bands whose style is described as "ball-of-fire Americana" by the Austin Chronicle. They are touring in support of their debut release, Portraits (Bismeaux Records), which dropped last summer and features sing along, guitar driven jams with clear, crisp vocals and plenty of down-home Southern twang. Formed in Austin, TX, the Wheeler Brothers are made up of brothers Nolan (guitar/piano/vocals), Tyler (bass) and Patrick Wheeler (drums) along with Danny Matthews (guitar/vocals), and A.J. Molyneaux (lap steel/guitar/vocals). Check out the hilarious new video for their single, "Spent Time" at AOL Spinner HERE<http://www.spinner.com/2012/01/03/wheeler-brothers-spent-time-video-premiere/> and give a shout if you'd like to have a word with the guys or come check out their show! Praise for Wheeler Brothers:
"...mixing country rock guitars with warm, rootsy vocals. Portraits stakes out ground somewhere in the vast space between Band of Horses and the Avett Brothers." - Austin American Statesman
"Through 11 fiery roots-influenced cuts, the Brothers bare their songwriting chops with an addictive sense of bravado and cerebral storytelling... Seemingly a bottomless pit of musical vision, Portraits is a debut that shows this band's melodic wellspring already bubbling over." - Elmore Magazine
"...ball-of-fire Americana and fueled by expansive musical backgrounds..." - Austin Chronicle
"Wheeler Brothers are a rough-and-tumble tribe from Austin, Texas... they chug their guitars with the gusto of a locomotive..." - AOL Spinner
"Rooted in the many shades of Americana, the Austin-based quintet isn't afraid of borrowing from the past and joins an increasing number of groups such as the Head and the Heart and Fleet Foxes in carving a new sound into indie's vast sonic landscape." - Washington Post
