RELEASE THE SUNBIRD * July 26th @ Hotel Café
Rogue Wave's Zach Rogue will be releasing his debut album under the moniker Release The Sunbird - entitled Come Back to Us - on Tuesday July 26th on Brushfire Records and will also be playing a very special release day performance at Hotel Café. After spending years on the road with Rogue Wave, Zach booked time at a studio called Russian Recording in Bloomington, Indiana in the summer of 2010, with only fragments of a few not-anywhere-near-finished songs. The result of these sessions turned out to be some of the most remarkable music he has made to date. Live, Zach delivers captivating performances that are magical and heart-wrenching. His voice sounds amazing while he sings gorgeous melodies about love, loss, memory, and the deceptive simplicity of hope while strumming along on his guitar. This sun-kissed performance at Hotel Café is a definite must-see.

ELEANOR FRIEDBERGER * July 27th @ The Satellite
The Fiery Furnaces' dazzling frontwoman, Eleanor Friedberger, will be making a stop at The Satellite  on Wednesday July 27th in support of her solo debut album Last Summer, which was released on July 12th via Merge Records. This record shows off her exceptional songwriting skills, as well as her sultry alto voice: Friedberger doesn't shy away from that oh-so-complicated genre "pop," wrangling Phil Spector harmonies, 60's girl group shimmers, head-nodding funk, and more, all with unmistakable panache. Live, Eleanor is a dynamic performer, maintaining her signature vocal phrasing and killer rock n' roll moves while playing the guitar and oozing in cool.
