[datastill4]Data Romance's new video for the addictive first single, "The Deep," premieres TODAY. Capturing the eerie darkness of the song's story and directed by Alistair Legrand (Beach House), the new video accomplishes nothing short of a true visual manifestation of the talent that the duo has and continues to exude. The video features Memphis-based performer, Lil Buck (who Spike Jonze<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9jghLeYufQ> gave his seal of approval when he saw him perform with Yo Yo Ma) and two of his hand-selected dancers from the New Styles Krew.  Buck choreographed the hypnotic tale of obsession and regret, feeding on the interplay between the bright spotlights and bold starkness of the dance floor. "Making a music video featuring a choreographed dance routine in a dark setting has been a dream of mine for a long time. When I heard the track for the first time, I realized that it was the perfect song for it. It was dark, beautiful and had a very strong beat that kept making me visualize slow motion robotic dance moves," says Alistair.

"The Deep" has already impacted several radio stations including Zane Lowe's Radio 1 Show where he featured the song on his "Next Hype Track" segment stating, "I heard that for the first time today and felt instantly into that record...It's really interesting, deep electronic music and it's not trying to show off too much, that's what I really like about that...That's one great, great song!"

The enigmatic sounds on Data Romance's self-titled debut blur the lines between genres. A happenstance meeting between Ajay Bhattacharyya and Amy Kirkpatrick, both 25, in their hometown of Victoria on Canada's Vancouver Island led the pair to discover each others' artistic talent, which would eventually be incorporated into their music. Kirkpatrick was using her training to do lights for the city's biggest clubs. Bhattacharyya, meanwhile, had come to the city to study sound design for film, mentored by the likes of master Craig Berkey, who has worked on movies like No Country For Old Men, True Grit, and Transformers. Kirkpatrick's lighting experience influenced Data Romance's highly visual live show, while Bhattacharyya's film training can be heard in the album's most intricate tracks.
