Desaparecidos Announce First New Material In 10 Years
“MariKKKopa” & “Backsell” released tomorrow, August 2nd, 2012

Desaparecidos, the Nebraska-based 5-piece fronted by Conor Oberst will release their first new material in a decade on Thursday, August 2nd 2012. Two brand new tracks, “MariKKKopa” and “Backsell” will be available tomorrow digitally and on double A-sided 7inch vinyl via the band’s website, www.desaparecidosband.com<http://www.desaparecidosband.com/>.

Desaparecidos’debut album Read Music/Speak Spanish - released in 2002 - was universally lauded by critics and saw the band tapped for tours with the likes of Jimmy Eat World and The Promise Ring. Entertainment Weekly called it "the sort of howlingly tuneful Midwestern punk that disappeared with Hüsker Dü<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%BCsker_D%C3%BC>." More political than Oberst’s earlier releases as Bright Eyes, Read Music/Speak Spanish turned sharp focus on capitalism, economic injustice and suburban sprawl. The new Desaparecidos songs cover some different ground, with “MariKKKopa” climbing inside the mind of one of vigilante sheriff Joe Arpaio’s posse members.

Desaparecidos, who last toured together in 2002, will kick off their short summer tour with a sold out show in Minneapolis on August 9th.  The band will also play in Omaha, Seattle, Portland, Chico, San Francisco and at Los Angeles’ F@#ck Yeah Fest.

Desaparecidos return as the original line up of Conor Oberst (vocals, guitar) Landon Hedges (bass guitar, vocals), Matt Baum (drums), Denver Dalley - (guitar) and Ian McElroy (keyboards).
